Caring for your teeth: expose the myths

Careful oral hygiene is necessary not only for the sake of a beautiful smile. Regular use of toothpaste and floss (floss), and twice a year to visit the dentist - that's how to do taking care of your health people.

U.S. scientists published an article, where some myths are debunked, common among ordinary people.

Myth No. 1. The condition of your teeth does not affect your overall health.

This is not true. The presence of caries negatively affects the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Diseased teeth are unable to chew food properly. The result is an additional burden on all organs of the digestive system.. Besides the fact, such a problem pushes a person to eat food, which is easier to chew. As a consequence, healthy fruits and vegetables are replaced, for example, buns or pies.

Myth No. 2. Excessive sugar consumption leads to tooth decay.

That's not entirely true. It's not the amount of sugar you consume that matters., and that, to what extent do sugary foods affect teeth?. For example, absorbable sweets linger in the mouth longer than other sweets. As a result, acid, which is produced by bacteria in the body when eating sweet foods, stays in contact with tooth enamel for much longer, that, of course, valuable. So, if you like to hold candy on your cheek, Try to rinse your mouth with at least plain water after it dissolves.. Oral irrigator can be an excellent assistant in this matter - regular use of it will allow you to forget about many unpleasant problems for a long time.

Myth No. 3. Caries in childhood is not scary.

Many people think, that it is not necessary to treat caries in a baby - baby teeth will fall out, and with them the problem will disappear. However, this is not the case. Unhealthy oral flora can affect the health of developing permanent teeth, therefore, it is unlikely that it will be possible to avoid visits to the dentist in the future.

Myth No. 4. It's better to delete, how to cure.

Fear of dental procedures sometimes pushes people to remove diseased teeth - they say, once and done. This is a big mistake. Fact, that after removing one, and even more so several radical units (molars), chewing load is redistributed to the incisors, fangs, as well as gums. All this can lead to a number of serious diseases - gingivitis, periodontitis, crooked teeth, malocclusion and so on.

Надеемся, that after reading this article, you will begin to take the prevention of dental diseases more seriously and responsibly. As the saying goes, your health is in your own hands!
